SUMMARY:Grand Rounds: Kristi Williams\, PhD\, RN | CHATO design\, pilot testing and update on current implementation and results
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for Grand Rounds on September 15th\, 2022 at 12pm ET. Dr. Williams will be presenting on “CHATO design\, pilot testing and update on current implementation and results.” \nKristine Williams\, PhD\, RN\, is a nurse gerontologist whose program of research includes multiple contributions leading to improved nursing care for older adults by enhancing nurse-patient communication\, providing cognitive training to improve self-care for older adults\, and by using technology to link family caregivers of persons with dementia to expert in-home guidance using video telehealth technology. She has used clinical trials to develop and test innovative interventions directly applicable to care settings that improve outcomes for older adults and their families across long term service and support settings. Dr. Williams has received continuous NIH funding since an R03 in 2005 followed by multiple K12\, CTSA\, R21\, R34\, R61 and R01 studies. In addition\, Dr. Williams has collaborated with other scientists as a co-investigator or consultant on over 15 studies. \nIMPACT Grand Rounds Flyer__Williams_20220915 \nZoom Details \nJoin from PC\, Mac\, iOS or Android: https://hebrewseniorlife.zoom.us/j/97344810673 \nDial-In:  +1 312 626 6799 (US Toll) or  +1 470 250 9358 (US Toll) \nMeeting ID:  973 4481 0673

SUMMARY:Release Date for 2 Requests for Applications: Pilot Grants and Demonstration Projects
DESCRIPTION:Notice of Intent (NOI) to Publish Two New Funding Opportunities on August 1\, 2022\n\n\nThe IMPACT Collaboratory is pleased to announce plans to publish new Requests for Applications (RFA) for Pilot Grants and Demonstration Projects on August 1\, 2022*. Letters of Intent for both opportunities are due mid-September 2022. \n*August 1st is the new RFA release date. This date has been modified from the original date\, which was August 15th. \nPilot Grants Program\nIMPACT funds one-year awards of pilot pragmatic clinical trials (ePCTs) that test non-pharmacological interventions embedded in health care system(s) for people living with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and AD-related dementias (ADRD) and their care partners. The goal of these pilot studies is to generate the preliminary data necessary to design and conduct a future full-scale Stage IV effectiveness ePCT (based on the NIH Stage Model). Learn more about previous awardees at this link. \nIn this cycle\, priority will be given to applications for interventions in this population that aim to:\n• Reduce inequities in health care\n• Reduce potentially inappropriate medications through de-prescribing\n• Improve care in the emergency department \nDemonstration Projects Program \nIMPACT funds 18-month Demonstration Projects designed as full-scale\, Stage IV effectiveness ePCTs (based on the NIH Stage Model) that test\, measure and evaluate the effect of a care delivery intervention program in health care systems for people living with ADRD and their care partners. The goal of these Demonstration Projects is to generate evidence on effective care delivery practices that can be expanded and/or implemented in other systems. The intervention will typically encompass relatively simple system changes or direct patient outreach\, or successfully piloted programs ready for testing at scale. Demonstration Projects allow health care systems and investigators to gain real-world experience integrating pragmatic non-pharmacologic interventions into usual clinical workflow and health care delivery practices in a controlled manner that provides clear information on the impact of the intervention program. Learn more about previous awardees at this link. \nUpdates on these two RFAs will be posted on the  Grants and Training Programs page.

SUMMARY:Grand Rounds: Kimberly Johnson\, MD | Embedding Health Equity in a Cluster Randomized Trial of an Advance Care Planning Intervention
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for Grand Rounds on April 21\, 2022 from 12pm – 1pm ET. Kimberly Johnson\, MD\, will discuss “Embedding Health Equity in a Cluster Randomized Trial of an Advance Care Planning Intervention.” \nDate/Time: April 21\, 2022 from 12pm – 1pm ET\nSpeaker: \n\nKimberly Johnson\, MD\nProfessor of Medicine and Director of the Duke Center for Research to Advance Healthcare Equity\, Duke Health \nKimberly Johnson\, MD\,  is a clinical investigator nationally known for her research on racial disparities in palliative care for older adults. Her work has identified multi-domain and multi-level factors\, which are associated with racial disparities in the quality of palliative care for African Americans. This includes differences in patterns of care between older African American and White patients enrolled in hospice; racial variation in knowledge\, beliefs\, and attitudes toward hospice and palliative care; geographic variation in racial disparities in hospice use; and organizational factors associated with greater use of hospice care by older African Americans. Dr. Johnson has led large national studies of hospice providers\, and multi-site studies of academic and community-based organizations to reduce racial disparities and improve the quality of palliative care delivery for older African Americans. Dr. Johnson is the director of the Duke Center for Research to Advance Healthcare Equity (REACH Equity). She serves as a co-investigator on CAPC’s project\, Equitable Access to Quality Palliative Care for Black Patients: A Scan of Challenges and Opportunities. In this role\, she helps to lead all aspects of identifying replicable interventions to drive equitable access to palliative care for Black patients and families. \nZoom Conferencing \nJoin from PC\, Mac\, iOS or Android: https://hebrewseniorlife.zoom.us/j/97344810673 \nDial-In:  +1 312 626 6799 (US Toll) or  +1 470 250 9358 (US Toll) \nMeeting ID:  973 4481 0673
