SUMMARY:Grand Rounds: Kimberly Johnson\, MD | Embedding Health Equity in a Cluster Randomized Trial of an Advance Care Planning Intervention
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for Grand Rounds on April 21\, 2022 from 12pm – 1pm ET. Kimberly Johnson\, MD\, will discuss “Embedding Health Equity in a Cluster Randomized Trial of an Advance Care Planning Intervention.” \nDate/Time: April 21\, 2022 from 12pm – 1pm ET\nSpeaker: \n\nKimberly Johnson\, MD\nProfessor of Medicine and Director of the Duke Center for Research to Advance Healthcare Equity\, Duke Health \nKimberly Johnson\, MD\,  is a clinical investigator nationally known for her research on racial disparities in palliative care for older adults. Her work has identified multi-domain and multi-level factors\, which are associated with racial disparities in the quality of palliative care for African Americans. This includes differences in patterns of care between older African American and White patients enrolled in hospice; racial variation in knowledge\, beliefs\, and attitudes toward hospice and palliative care; geographic variation in racial disparities in hospice use; and organizational factors associated with greater use of hospice care by older African Americans. Dr. Johnson has led large national studies of hospice providers\, and multi-site studies of academic and community-based organizations to reduce racial disparities and improve the quality of palliative care delivery for older African Americans. Dr. Johnson is the director of the Duke Center for Research to Advance Healthcare Equity (REACH Equity). She serves as a co-investigator on CAPC’s project\, Equitable Access to Quality Palliative Care for Black Patients: A Scan of Challenges and Opportunities. In this role\, she helps to lead all aspects of identifying replicable interventions to drive equitable access to palliative care for Black patients and families. \nZoom Conferencing \nJoin from PC\, Mac\, iOS or Android: https://hebrewseniorlife.zoom.us/j/97344810673 \nDial-In:  +1 312 626 6799 (US Toll) or  +1 470 250 9358 (US Toll) \nMeeting ID:  973 4481 0673

SUMMARY:Informational Webinar: Pilot Grant Program Cycle 4A RFA
DESCRIPTION:An optional informational webinar for the IMPACT Collaboratory Request for Applications (RFA) for the Pilot Grants Program Cycle 4A will be hosted to provide investigators with an overview of application details and an opportunity to ask questions. Pre-registration is required using the link below. \nMonday\, February 14 at 2:00 pm ET: Registration closed. \n\nFunding Details \nIn this cycle\, the IMPACT Collaboratory will fund up to five 1-year awards for pilot pragmatic clinical trials (ePCTs) that test non-pharmacological interventions embedded in health care system(s) for people living with AD/ADRD and their care partners. Pilot Studies will be funded for up to $175\,000 in direct costs for a maximum of 12-months. For more information\, please see our Pilot Grants Program page. \nThe goal of the pilot projects is to generate the preliminary data necessary to design and conduct a future full-scale Stage IV effectiveness ePCT (based on the NIH Stage Model) funded through other grant mechanisms (NIH or other sources) \nThe IMPACT Collaboratory will consider all applications for pilot ePCTs that evaluate non-pharmacological interventions to improve the care of people living with AD/ADRD and their care partners. This grant cycle will prioritize applications for interventions in these populations that aim to: \n\nImprove care through behavioral economics “nudge” interventions;\nReduce inequities in health care;\nReduce potentially inappropriate medications through de-prescribing; or\nImprove care in emergency departments.
