SUMMARY:Pragmatic Trials in Long-Term Care: A Consensus Conference
DESCRIPTION:Virtually | March 10\, 2021 | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST | funded by the National Institute of Aging and led by editors of three leading geriatrics journals — JAMDA (The Journal of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine)\, JAGS (The Journal of the American Geriatrics Society)\, and Geriatric Nursing – will identify priorities and best practices for pragmatic trials in long-term care\, with a focus on care for persons with dementia. \nExperts across the globe agree that we are at a tipping point to improve systems of long-term care for older adults; they also agree that pragmatic trials are the most promising strategy toward that end. However\, the focus of such trials\, the best methods with which to conduct them\, how best to share results\, and how best to promote uptake of evidence-proven practices\, are far from clear. \nSpeakers include internationally renowned research experts\, directors of national long-term care organizations\, and leaders of national associations and societies. IMPACT Member Participants include Joe Gaugler\, PhD\, David Gifford\, MD\, MPH\, Laura Hanson\, MD\, MPH\, Vince Mor\, PhD\, Kathleen Unroe\, MD\, MHA\, Sheryl Zimmerman\, PhD. \nTarget Audience: This conference is intended for providers\, researchers\, and policy makers who aim to promote better care in nursing homes\, assisted living communities\, and other residential settings that serve older adults. \nFor more details and registration\, visit: https://www.eventscribe.net/2021/PALTC21/aaStatic.asp?SFP=WUtSUUxCQk1ANjQ2Nw

SUMMARY:Academy Health 13th Annual Conference on the Science of Dissemination and Implementation in Health
DESCRIPTION:December 15-17\, 2020 Conference Theme:\nDissemination and Implementation Science in a Dynamic\, Diverse\, and Interconnected World: Meeting the Urgent Challenges of our Time. \n\nAs the global health workforce continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic\, the dissemination and implementation (D&I) science community\, perhaps now more than ever\, will be called upon to bridge the gap between new research\, practice\, and policy and to ensure that evidence is used to inform decisions that will improve the health of individuals and communities. \nWhile we will not be meeting face-to-face this year\, we’ll continue our work of strengthening the field now and in the future by addressing the challenges facing D&I science\, presenting research findings\, and identifying the next set of research priorities. \nNote: Registrants have access to sessions through January 2021. \nLearn more about the event and register here: https://www.academyhealth.org/events/site/13th-annual-conference-science-dissemination-and-implementation-health

SUMMARY:IMPACT Grand Rounds: Implementation Outcomes: Their Role in Treatment Success
DESCRIPTION:Enola Proctor\, PhD\, Shanti K. Khinduka distinguished professor emeritus at Washington University in St. Louis will present on “Implementation Outcomes: Their Role in Treatment Success.” \nDr. Proctor’s research is motivated by the question\, how do we ensure that people receive the very best possible care?  She has studied this question in a variety of social work\, public health\, and health care settings\, ranging from hospitals to community agencies. She has contributed to the intellectual capital for the rapidly growing field of dissemination and implementation science\, leading teams to distinguish\, clearly define\, develop taxonomies\, and stimulate more systematic work to advance the conceptual\, linguistic\, and methodological clarity in the field.  Her research has been funded by the NIA\, and AHRQ\, and by the NIMH for 26 consecutive years.  She directs the Implementation Research Institute\, a training program in implementation science funded by the National Institute for Mental Health.  She led the establishment of several university-wide centers and cores in implementation science\, including the Center for Dissemination and Implementation for the Washington University Institute for Public Health and the Dissemination and Implementation Research Core for Washington University’s CTSA program.  Her awards include Washington University’s Arthur Compton Holly Distinguished Faculty Award\, the Society for Social Work and Research’s Distinguished Research Award\, and the American Public Health Association Stephen M. Banks Award for Outstanding Mentoring in mental health services. \nEvent Details:\nThursday\, November 19\, 2020\n12:00 – 1:00 pm ET \nZoom Details:\nJoin from PC\, Mac\, iOS or Android: https://hebrewseniorlife.zoom.us/j/97344810673\nDial-In: +1 312 626 6799 (US Toll) or +1 470 250 9358 (US Toll)\nMeeting ID: 973 4481 0673 \nDownload announcement.
