DESCRIPTION:NEXT STEPs: The NEXT STEPs program was established in 2024 with funding by a cooperative agreement from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) [Grant U24AG087939]. The goal of NEXT STEPs is to support high-quality research by advising on research design\, disseminating best practices\, and sharing findings with those who can use them to improve the lives of nursing home residents\, their families\, and staff. \nPILOT PROGRAM: The intent of funding NEXT STEPs pilot projects is to support investigators in their effort to obtain preliminary data necessary to successfully garner funding for and to conduct explanatory clinical trials in nursing homes. In addition to receiving funding\, awardees will have access to relevant curriculum content and receive input from experts to help them hone their research skills and ensure successful project completion. \nINFORMATIONAL WEBINAR: Tuesday\, March 18th\, from 2-3pm ET. DESCRIPTION:The NIA R25-funded Dementia Palliative Care Clinical Trials Program (DEM-PCCT) is accepting applications for its fourth cohort. \nThe program is designed for researchers interested in developing competence in the planning\, design\, and execution of randomized clinical trials among persons with Alzheimer’s Disease or Related Dementias (ADRD) and their caregivers. \n  \nThe overall goal of this program is to support participants in submitting a competitive grant application by the end of the program. \nDEM-PCCT 10-month-long Program includes a combination of virtual small group sessions and a 5-day in-person Institute where participants work together to design a trial and develop their own grant application addressing palliative care issues in ADRD populations. This year\, the required in-person Institute dates are September 14th–19th\, 2025 and will be held in Chapel Hill\, NC. \nMore information can be found on our attached flyer and website. \n  \nThe Executive Committee will also be hosting informational webinars where potential applicants can ask questions they may have about the program. These webinars will occur on Friday\, December 6th from 1-2pm EST and Wednesday\, January 15th from 5-6pm EST.
