Monday, September 23rd – Wednesday, September 25th, 2024

Northwestern University | Chicago, IL

This 2-day workshop will advance the science and practice of implementation and innovation to improve the care and outcomes of older adults. Hosted this year by Northwestern University, the workshop will thematically focus on implementing evidence-based care models in primary care, outpatient clinics and community-based settings. The workshop’s hybrid format allows for in-person interactive sessions, mentorship and workgroups and uses a webinar platform to engage a wider virtual audience for plenary presentation. Participants will include health systems leadership, researchers, trainees, persons with lived experiences and clinicians. A limited number of travel scholarships and mentor-mentee consultation opportunities are available.
Workshop format includes:
  • Monday, September 23, 2024 (pre-workshop @ noon; opening keynote @ 6pm)
    • Begins with a half-day pre-workshop for investigators interested in learning the fundamentals of implementation research.
    • The workshop will kick-off Monday evening with keynote speakers on the intersection of policies and implementation of evidence-based care models for individuals with dementia.
  • Tuesday, September 24, 2024 (full day)
    • A full day of case examples, panel presentations and interactive sessions including health system executives and implementation researchers that will address specific aspects of implementation and innovation including:
      • (1) Equity and Engagement;
      • (2) Organizational Readiness;
      • (3) Synergy of Implementation Science and Quality Improvement; and
      • (4) Poster presentations by attendees.
  • Wednesday, September 25, 2024 (morning)
    • Morning focused on the science of implementation science. Sessions will include examples of funded proposals, operationalizing strategies for implementation and protected time for consultation on concepts, study ideas and specific aims.

This is a chance to discuss the state of the science and practice, challenges and facilitators, and opportunities to advance implementation science in research benefiting care for older adults.
