Bio
Ken Hepburn, PhD, is a professor in the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University and the Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement core director of Emory’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. He co-directs the Emory Roybal Center for Dementia Caregiver Mastery. A gerontologist, he has focused principally on developing and testing programs aimed at enhancing the skills, knowledge and confidence of individuals providing informal care for people living with dementia. He is the principal author of the Savvy Caregiver Program (SCP), a widely disseminated, evidence-based, in-person group psychoeducation program that has produced significant reductions in caregiver distress and improvements in caregiver mastery. With support from the NIA, Dr. Hepburn established comparable evidence for the efficacy of Tele-Savvy, a synchronous/asynchronous version of the SCP. He is also developing an online system to enable organizations to implement the SCP and to train local program facilitators.
