Career Development Awardees Fabius and Sadarangani share perspectives on research gaps and opportunities to improve AD/ADRD care

Leveraging data, technology, and policy to address disparities for persons living with Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease related dementias

The recent publication from IMPACT Career Development Awardees Chanee Fabius, PhD and Tina Sadarangani, PhD, RN, ANP-BC, GNP-BC among others, highlights the gaps and opportunities for addressing disparities in AD/ADRD care presented in the Disparities in Health Care Access, Utilization, and Quality session, of the 2023 National Research Summit on Care, Services, and Supports for Persons Living with Dementia and Their Care Partners/Caregivers.

Authors call attention to three areas including:

  • Increased availability of data and linkages across local, state and federal levels
  • Health information technology use and related care access, quality and costs
  • Diverse health insurance models used to enable access to medical care, long-term services and supports and address care quality.

Recommendations and considerations for future work to strengthen policies related to caring for people living with dementia.
