Bio
Hillary Lum, MD, PhD, is a geriatrician and palliative care physician who is passionate about designing, testing, and implementing pragmatic interventions for older adults with serious illness, including mild cognitive impairment and dementia, and family care partners. She is professor of medicine in the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She did her MD/PhD at University of Wisconsin-Madison and internal medicine residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. As a 2016 NIA Beeson Scholar, Dr. Lum designed and demonstrated the efficacy of a novel advance care planning group visit intervention for older adults in primary care, and studied adaptation for individuals with mild cognitive impairment and their care partners. In 2021, she was one of the inaugural NIA IMPACT Collaboratory Health Care System Scholars. Her research focuses on community engagement, pragmatic interventions through the patient portal, and implementation science. She is part of the IMPACT Collaboratory Patient and Caregiver-relevant Outcomes Core.
