Editorial: How Do We Make Comprehensive Dementia Care a Benefit?

Several IMPACT Collaboratory members contributed to an article and editorial in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society and a podcast discussing the importance of comprehensive dementia care for people living with dementia and their care partners. See the links below for details:
- IMPACT Training Core Leader Chris Callahan, MD, MACP and Pilot Studies Core Executive Committee member Kathleen Unroe, MD, MHA published an editorial on the article by Epstein-Lubow et al. and an article by Jennings et al. to describe the need for a comprehensive approach to providing dementia care that would improve the outcomes for persons living with dementia and their caregivers.
- IMPACT Stakeholder Engagement Team Leader Gary Epstein-Lubow, MD was co-author on Recommendations to Improve Payment Policies for Comprehensive Dementia Care, which provides recommendations for reform included payments for services to family caregivers; new research to determine success metrics; education for consumers, providers, and policymakers; and advancing a population health model approach to tier coverage based on risk and need within a health system.
- Dr. Callahan and Dr. Jennings also participated in a podcast for GeriPal further discussing the need for comprehensive care.
