Bio Peter Serina, MD, MPH, is a post-doctoral research fellow at Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research. Dr. Serina works as an emergency physician at the Rhode Island Hospital and Miriam Hospital. His hope is to improve health outcomes and work towards goal-concordant care for older patients in the acute care phase of care through research projects. Dr. Serina is currently working on existing projects within the Department of Gerontology and Healthcare Research including an embedded pragmatic clinical trial examining a new initiative designed to increase advanced directive use among assisted living facilities and working with Medicare claims data to better understand outcomes for older adults in post-acute rehabilitation facilities.
