Quincy Samus, PhD, is a professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing with a joint appointment in the School of Medicine. She is the director of the Memory and Aging Services Innovation Center and associate director of the Innovation & Implementation Center for Aging. She is trained in applied gerontology, epidemiology, and health services research and has 20 years of experience leading projects to develop innovation to improve care for older people living with memory challenges and their families. She has an extensive track record of interdisciplinary collaboration with across many settings to address dementia care and risk reduction. She has successfully pioneered the development, testing and dissemination of evidence-based care management innovations and models of care to improve the coordination of care among people living with dementia. She has contributed to policy development and strategic planning for dementia care and brain health initiatives at the state, national and international level.

Andrea Wershof Schwartz, MD, MPH, AGSF, is an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and the associate director for Clinical Innovation in the New England Geriatrics Research Education and Clinical Center at VA Boston. Dr. Schwartz co-directs the Aging and End of Life curricular Theme at HMS and is an associate professor of epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health where she co-directs the Frailty course. A national leader in the Age Friendly Health Systems movement, Dr. Schwartz serves as faculty for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and is a recipient of the American Geriatrics Society's Outstanding Clinician Educator Award.

Manish Shah, MD MPH, is Professor and Chair of the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and holds the Azita G. Hamedani Distinguished Chair of Emergency Medicine. As a practicing emergency medicine physician and a researcher, he has dedicated his career to improving the care delivered to acutely ill or injured older adults. His work has helped establish the field of geriatric emergency medicine and advanced the role of ambulance-based paramedics to support community health efforts, now termed “community paramedicine.” Dr. Shah’s recent work has focused on helping people living with dementia (PLWD). He is one of the leaders for ED-LEAD, an 80-site pragmatic trial evaluating three interventions to improve the emergency department care of PLWD and their care partners. Dr. Shah also has a passion for developing researchers. His mentees now hold senior positions across health systems, medical schools, and research programs.

Jenny Sullivan, PhD, has been a health services researcher for over 20 years in the VA and has received grant funding from both VA HSR and QUERI on several studies and evaluations. The core areas of Dr. Sullivan’s research have been assessing program implementation and quality of institutional and noninstitutional LTSS in VA. More recently her work has focused on geriatric mental health and suicide prevention for older Veterans. Her areas of expertise include mixed methods and qualitative research designs and the application of implementation science to her work. She is a co-principal investigator on the VA merit grant to assess Hospital in Home implementation in VA. Ellen Tambor, MA, has led and contributed to a wide range of projects aimed at meaningfully engaging patients, care partners, clinicians, and other parnters in all aspects of the research process. As a project director at the non-profit Education Development Center (EDC), she helped to establsih the National Dementia Care Collaborative. In her previous position as a research director at the Center for Medical Technology Policy (CMTP), she co-led the Stakeholder Engagement Core for the NIH Pragmatic Trials Collaboratory and helped to design and implement a plan for patient and clinician engagement in the Chicago Area Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Network (CAPriCORN). She also led a PCORI-funded project aimed at improving the engagement of front-line clinicians in pragmatic clinical trials. Before joining CMTP, Ellen was a research associate in the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management, where she conducted social science research in genetics and public policy studies. She holds an MA in psychology from Wake Forest University.

Kali Thomas, PhD, is the Leonard and Helen R. Stulman Professor in Aging and Community Health and the associate director of Health Services Research in the Center for Equity in Aging. As a gerontologist, Dr. Thomas' research focuses on identifying ways to improve the quality of life of older adults needing long-term services and supports (LTSS) through applied health services research. With funding from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the National Institute on Aging, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and multiple foundations, she has led research projects examining the organization, delivery, and financing of LTSS to meet older adults' medical and non-medical needs. Her research spans the LTSS continuum, ranging from in-home services to long-term care provided in institutional settings.

His work is focused on observational and interventional science intended to promote functional independence and to prevent the development and progression of frailty. Dr. Travison is an internationally recognized expert in the epidemiology of age-associated changes in circulating sex steroid concentrations and their contribution to functional and cognitive aging. He has designed and analyzed numerous clinical trials of multimodal interventions in complex older populations. Kathleen Unroe, MD, MHA, MS, is a geriatrician and nursing home physician. Her research focus is quality of care in nursing homes, and the use of palliative care and hospice in long-term care settings. Dr. Unroe leads NEXT STEPs, an NIA funded U24 to advance clinical trials in nursing home settings. Dr. Unroe is co-PI of an NIA R21/ R33 pragmatic clinical trial to improve advance care planning in nursing homes, co-PI of UPLIFT, a clinical trials of a palliative care model in nursing homes, led OPTIMISTIC, a $30.3 million CMS demonstration project, and was an NIA Beeson K23 scholar. She served as chair of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Research Committee and as chair of the American Geriatrics Society Public Policy Committee. She is an associate editor of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. Dr. Unroe completed a three- year geriatric medicine fellowship and internal medicine residency at Duke University. She received her MD, with a specialization in aging, and masters in health administration from Ohio State University.
